I often wonder which has a greater impact on my weight - diet or exercise.  I understand that BOTH are extremely important for overall health, but if you’re trying to lose weight…does focusing on diet or exercise make it happen faster?

This past weekend, I got plenty of exercise.  And while I thought I had made some healthy food choices, I know I really didn’t.

Friday: Applebee’s lunch, drinks out with the neighbor and his wife, Papa John’s for dinner!  Eeeek.  What was I thinking?  Funny thing is, I thought I was great for only eating 2 slices of pizza…but considering I ate a ton of the garlic dipping sauce…I think this was a major fail.

Saturday: Oatmeal w/bananas & brown sugar for breakfast; SNOWBOARDING all day at Keystone (beautiful, challenging, sore!, and exhilirating); lunch at a Mexican restaurant in the mountains - split chips & salsa and a chimichanga with my man; dinner was Progresso Light soup and a homemade quesadilla w/cheese & salsa (healthy?  not really.)

Sunday: Organic cereal for breakfast; craft fair and lunch at Cheesecake Factory - split 3 fried appetizers with my aunt (crispy stuffed olives, crispy artichoke hearts, and fried calamari) plus a Jack Daniels Whiskey Sour.  Who am I?  A couple hours later I did a 40 minute Turbo Jam video and then hit the gym for 30 minutes to do a strength training circuit.  Dinner I decided to go light…a smoothie with orange juice, 1 banana, frozen mangos, strawberries and raspberries, 2 T of yogurt, and a dash or two of milk.  Plus 5 reduced fat Triscuits.

WOW.  Once I type it up, it doesn’t look so hot.  I’ve been doing the Nutritionista’s Winter Shape-Up Challenge and weighed in this morning…I lost 0.4 pounds.  Better than gaining, but I know I can do better.  My goal is to lose 7 pounds by Christmas.  Can I do it!?  I’m starting to get scared.
