Victory #2 for (Yester)Day:
Work BFF and I ran an errand at lunch.
Work BFF: Can we just go to McDonald’s for lunch?Me: I can’t…I don’t have any money.Work BFF: I will pay for you!Me: I can’t…I brought a spinach salad from last night to eat, and I’m really trying to watch it.  But I’ll take you there if you want.Work BFF: Come on, just let me buy you fries, or at least a coke!Me: Oh, it’s ok, I’m good.Work BFF: Wow, your spinach salad must be really good.I can’t believe I actually resisted FRIES and a delicious, bubbling, calling-my-name Diet Coke.  Especially since I was in the drivers seat at the drive-thru.  Do you know how hard it is to have someone eating McDonald’s in your car when you can’t have any??  AND THEN:
Work BFF: Can we go to Whole Foods real quick?  I want to get a fudge nut brownie.Me: Sure.[Work BFF buys a 4-pack of huge, ooey gooey, fudgy brownies, as pictured here…]Work BFF: I don’t know if I should offer you one or not…since you’re on a diet.Me: I’m not on a diet, just choosing to make better choices.  And no thanks, I’m good without a brownie.
!!!!!!!  (sidenote: Work BFF is a skinny mini, so even though I wasn’t eating, it wasn’t like I was making her feel like a fatty for indulging!)
I came back to my desk, ate my spinach with bell peppers and carrots, topped with egg salad, and enjoyed every low-calorie morsel.  That is…until I got food poisoning!!!  I had bought raw spinach, and even though I washed it, it must not have been good enough.  I was so sick last night.
Work BFF: How do you not feel good?  You didn’t even eat McDonald’s!I may have gotten food poisoning, but I didn’t eat McDonald’s or a soda OR a fudge nut brownie, and I met all of my nutrition goals yesterday!
VICTORY.
