Why do I have such a hard time giving up Diet soda?
I mean, it’s like crack! For me, it’s not about the caffeine. It has no effect on me anymore.
It is 100% about the bubbles. The carbonation. The burn. Whatever it’s called…that’s what it is for me. I love how it makes me feel alive! It wakens me up by tickling my throat and spicing up the day. What?? WTF do these diet soda companies put in these drinks?? There has to be some crazy chemical.
Anyway, I haven’t drank one since Sunday. I’m trying to not drink one for a full week. And then hopefully not until after Christmas. Can I do it? I don’t know. I understand how non-nutritious and pointless this choice of beverage is. I understand the aspartame and whatever else could potentially be harmful. But really? It’s been around for so long that I assume by now we’d really know if it was that bad. I had a friend who lost around 75 pounds on Weight Watchers, all while drinking at least 6 Diet sodas a day. She said the Diet soda is what she drank instead of eating bad foods. She would reach for a Diet soda instead.
So I remain confused. Should I eliminate it, or should I give in and just enjoy one a day.
How do you guys stay away from Diet soda? Or do you?
