I am a newlywed in my mid-twenties, with a husband who encourages me to eat pizza, burgers, and candy on a regular basis. But I want to be healthy. It’s not all his fault for my extra baggage (around the midsection mostly)…See, I have a lot of internal conflict:
- I love the mountains…………………….AND the beach
- I could lounge all day watching TV……or go for a 3-day backpacking trip
- My hair is long……………………………but I wear it in a ponytail a lot
- I want to make money at my job………but I get bored at work and would rather work from home
- I hate vegetables………………………..but know I need to eat them. It’s a love/hate thing.
- I have lots to say………………………..but I’d call myself shy.
- I tend to dress like a hippie……………..but I am far from being one.
What’s this blog about? Well, it’s about my #1 conflict:
- I want to be a size 4…………………… but I won’t give up eating fries.
For years I have been reading about nutrition, fitness, mental well-being, and overall health. While I haven’t tried every crazy diet trend out there, I have tried my fair share…from diet pills to Weight Watchers to the South Beach Diet. My next move was to try a cleanse of some sort, but then I screwed my head on straight and realized: I Can Eat Like a Normal Person and Still Look the Way I Want.
Right?
Sure! Why not? So this is my mission. And I hope you’ll follow along and share your own experiences with me in the comments sections as I blog about what I’m eating, where I’m going, what I have going on each week, how I react to a bowl of candy in front of me or an invitation to go rock climbing. I hope you’ll learn from my journey, and feel encouraged by the fact that we, as women, do not need to conform to some crazy ideal of giving up the foods we love in order to be happy. People with that kind of drive are amazing, but giving up your favorite foods is not a requirement for looking good and feeling even better. More on this philosophy later.
For now, let’s look forward to the upcoming holiday season, and get out into that fresh air. Whatever your “size 4” is, I look forward to helping you get there, while enjoying your favorite parts of life, whether it be parties, pina colodas, or even fries…
